we starting off the year from january 1 to yesterday most of us it is the dryest it has ever been. the one area that is seeing the most rain is livermore and downtown san francisco where it is the third and 5th driest start ever to a year. we need the rain. nothing out there good for the commute. we will talk about the forecast. we have cool spots around bay at 340 to 45 in san francisco at 7:00, and mild during the lunch hour, and 50 to 54 and temperatures are close to average with sunshine, and upper 50's to low 60's at 4:00 and fall back in the low 50's. frost inland, and around 50 to 55 at noon and 58 to 62 with sunshine this afternoon and temperatures are close to average. headed to the coast it is breezy this morning, and temperatures are around 37 to 41. you will be in the low-to-mid 50's around noon and mid-to-upper 50's at 4:00 and it will not be so breezy.

sue? >> we go back to albany, eastbound, 580 a car off on the shoulder and no delays here and you make your way to the richard san rafael bridge westbound, two left lanes are blocked at toll lazy for maintenance work and that will slow your drive as you make your way westbound into marin. northbound 880 in the oakland area at 5th reports of a large boulder in the last lane, and that will be hampering drivers, so c.h.p. could be a traffic break to get that out of here, and the san mateo bridge is looking good westbound, the tail lights on the flat section are busy here and you are looking at a 15 to 17-minute drive from hayward to san mateo. >> and the bad traffic on the bay area is blamed on thieves now getting the blame. now live on the expressway in san francisco to explain that.

>> it could make you scratch your head how can thieves make traffic worse? they are, copper thieves are stealing the valuable copper that powers metering lights like this one behind me here in san jose. this works. you can see it is green. when the wiring is taken out it turns black and rendered useless and traffic backed up. this is happening across the bay area. it is making streetlights go out very dangerous for pedestrians and some metering lights in the south bay have been out for up to two weeks and some on the peninsula have been out since october. of course, people are stealing the copper for the money, and it has gone for $4 a pound at salvage yards triple the price four years ago. a new law may deter thieves and foes those who recycle or receive the material with up to three years in prison and a fine

of $10,000. look at this, offer the last year in the bay area alone, vandals have stolen copper from 59 meters, caltran it has only been able to replace 18 because it takes three or four months to repair them and it costs $35,000 for each meter so caltran is hopefully ending the thefts by changing from come per -- from copper wiring to less expensive aluminum wiring and they burying the equipment and make it less accessible to the thieves hopefully to deter them from trying to steal it. >> it is 6:06. developing news, sovereign -- southern california is on edge over the manhunt of an accused

face accusations of price gouging. apple products are generally more expensive in australia. a 16gigi byte ipad sells for $539 in australia dollars $40 more than the price tag that it sells for in the united states, executives are ordered to testify in microsoft and adobe to face similar accusations. "new york times" is adding to the rumor of an apple i-watched which is worked on now. it runs on apple's operating system and features flexible glass which can bend without breaking. this is not the first rumor. in december a chinese tech website reported the device would feature blue tooth and a 1.1" display and apple is not commenting. >> another tech company linkedin

time of storm that will bring the sierra snow. right now, other than oakland, san francisco, and livermore, most of the bay area is off to the most dry start ever for a new year. we are looking down from mount tamalpais where it is breezy in some areas especially at the coast and coming through the golden gate and further down toward san mateo bridge you can see calmer conditions there. now, live doppler 7 hd shows spinning on mt. st. home plane -- helena, and we have a land breeze developing. 31 in santa rosa, 32 in livermore from 6:00 observations, and everyone is in the mid-to-upper 30's i but fairfield and antioch, low-to-mid 40's there. same for mountain view and san francisco. you can see half moon bay at 50. we down to the monterey bay at 40, but otherwise, everyone else
